Golf Cart Laws in North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach

Written By: Staff Report

Rent a Golf Cart in Myrtle Beach

There’s been an explosion of golf cart usage in the Myrtle Beach area within the past year. With gas prices steadily increasing, it’s no wonder people are choosing this alternate form of transportation. Before you decide to hit the streets in your newly rented or purchased golf cart, familiarize yourself with the golf cart laws in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

As stated in Section 56-3-115 of South Carolina Law:

A. Only the owner of the golf cart or his agent or employees may operate the vehicle. The operator must be a licensed driver, have proof of financial responsibility and a permit to do so, and have them in his or her possession during operation. The S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles issues the $5 permits.

B. Operation is not allowed on primary highways, such as US 17, Kings Highway and US-501. You may cross a primary highway, but you may not drive along it.

C. Operation is allowed on any secondary highway or street if:

1. the operation is within two miles of your residence; and
2. the operation is during daylight hours only; and
3. the operation is by the permitted, licensed and financially responsible owner or his agent, and
4. the vehicle is complete with all equipment required by statutes when you put vehicles on the public ways.

Renting a golf cart can be a great experience. Used mainly for quick stops at the grocery store, long days at the beach, or a cruise around town with the family. Please be aware that renting a golf cart can also quickly turn into a bad experience if not taken seriously. Fully read and understand the laws and requirements, pay attention at all times, and by no means are you to operate a golf cart while under the influence of alcohol.

When renting a golf cart in North Myrtle Beach or Myrtle Beach, most companies have these requirements:
  • Golf Carts must display SC permit sticker
  • Must be driven by a licensed driver
  • Allowed on secondary roadways only
  • May cross primary roads [Ocean Blvd, 27th S, Hwy 17 or Sea Mtn Hwy]
  • Must obey all State traffic laws
  • Seating capacity cannot be exceeded
  • Daylight operation only

We hope this article gives you a better understanding of the golf cart laws in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach. And remember, have fun, be safe, be smart, and we’ll see you on the road!

Coming to North Myrtle? Don’t forget about the new “Main Street Connector”

Written By: Paul Hanak

Robert Edge Parkway

Those of you coming on vacation this year to North Myrtle Beach should be aware of the new Main Street Connector, aka Robert Edge Parkway that comes off of Hwy 31 and goes right into the heart of North Myrtle Beach (ehrm, Main Street.)  While it isn’t new to the locals, (been open for a year and a few months now I believe) those who do not regularly come to North Myrtle Beach will be surprised on how much time it saves.

If you are heading into North Myrtle Beach coming from Hwy 9, you can hop into Hwy 31 from Hwy 9 and then take the next exit (pictured above). OR, if you are coming in from Hwy 22, take Hwy 31 North until you get to Robert Edge Parkway. Either way you shake it, you will be heading over the Intracoastal Waterway and in North Myrtle Beach, SC before you know it!

This little addition not only makes the daily commute for locals easier, but divides up the vehicles from the busy incoming traffic on Saturdays to the North Myrtle Beach area.

Poop & Scoop Golf Tournament aims to generate pet food and supplies

Written By: Paul Hanak
June 22nd, 2011

Golf TournamentCondoLux Vacation Rentals and Real Estate Sales is proud to announce our sponsorship in the inaugural Poop & Scoop Pro/Am Golf Tournament this year on July 30, 2011.  The competition will be held at the Valley at Eastport in Little River, SC.

The Poop & Scoop Pro/AmTM was conceived by David Hackney as a sister event to the highly successful Pet Food Pro/AmTM which generates over nine tons of pet food for the Humane Society of NMB. The fellowship and camaraderie associated with this event will strongly outweigh the competitive nature of the tournament. The format will welcome local PGA Professionals and amateurs. Entry fee for this unique event will be 50 pounds of cat litter and one gallon of bleach per player. Only a minimal registration fee will be required from the contestants.

This event is limited to competitors who have a love for animals and a passion for golf.  To learn more about entries, prizes, and the fun, please download the entry form and send it in!

Myrtle Beach Fireworks 4th of July 2011

Myrtle Beach Fireworks 4th of July 2011

Will you be in Myrtle Beach for the 4th of July 2011?
We’ve compiled a quick list of Fireworks Displays happening in Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas on Independence Day.

We’ll be getting more information on events and different places to watch fireworks as that fateful day approaches, but we wanted to provide you with something to get the juices flowing.

Where will fireworks be displayed?:
  • Broadway at the Beach @ 10:00pm   (Myrtle Beach)
  • Cherry Grove Pier @ 9:30pm – 10:00pm  (Cherry Grove Section – North Myrtle Beach)
  • Barefoot Landing @ 10:00am – 11:00am  (North Myrtle Beach)
  • Murrell’s Inlet @ 10:00am  (Surfside)
  • Surfside Beach Pier @ 10:00pm
Great spots to see fireworks from:

Myrtle Beach SkyWheel:
New in 2011, the SkyWheel could make for one of the best places to witness fireworks from.

Anywhere on the beach:

Grab a chair, drinks and a camera. If you position yourself on the beach anywhere in between Cherry Grove Pier and the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, you’ll see vacationers and locals setting off their own fireworks displays (we don’t encourage this behavior), and you’ll also see the major displays along the coastline as well. Nothing can compare to digging your toes in the sand and watching the entire Grand Strand’s coastline illuminate with multiple fireworks displays.

Feel free to leave us comments or suggestions on where you’ll be watching fireworks in Myrtle Beach this 4th of July!

Parking Regulations 101: Parking Passes

Written By: Staff Report
June 16th, 2011

We’d like to touch base on another topic we frequently get asked about:  Parking Passes

Parking Passes are a very important part of your stay. We  strongly encourage all of our guests to display their parking passes that have been provided to them at all times.

Parking Pass

Failure to properly display the parking pass(es) we provide you with, can and most likely will result in your vehicle(s) being towed at your expense.

Parking violations are in no way, shape, or form enforced or monitored by CondoLux. Parking Regulations are set and enforced by the individual Resorts in the area.

We absolutely do not want our customers to fall victim to this situation (being towed), so we’re going to do our best to provide you with the information you need to have a hassle and tow-free vacation.

HOW MANY PARKING PASSES DO I GET?

When you check-in, you will receive the amount of parking passes allowed for your individual unit (dependent on which unit you rent).

If you need more passes, please let us know how many parking passes you will need WHEN YOU ARE MAKING YOUR RESERVATION.

WHAT IF I HAVE VISITORS DURING MY STAY?

We will provide you with additional passes for your visitors, but this doesn’t guarantee them a parking spot — due to limited space.

If you forget to ask for visitor passes during your reservation, please feel free to come to the CondoLux Office to get more passed during hours of operation.

Please ask for visitor parking passes

WHAT IF CONDOLUX IS CLOSED WHEN I CHECK-IN, AND I NEED MORE PASSES?

If you only asked for 4 parking passes during your reservation process, and you check-in after our hours of operation, we will only leave 4 parking passes for you. If when you get here you find yourself needing more parking passes, you must wait until our office is open the next day to get them. This is why we encourage our visitors to get an accurate number of parking passes they’ll need prior to their arrival, and ask for them during their reservation. We fully understand that you may have unexpected visitors during your visit, and we will do our absolute best to accommodate you.

WHERE SHOULD WE PARK IF WE DON’T HAVE PARKING PASSES?

DO NOT PARKING IN THE PARKING GARAGE IF YOU DON’T HAVE A PARKING PASS, YOU WILL GET TOWED. We would suggest using city-parking until you can come to the CondoLux Office and acquire more parking passes. You are responsible for understanding the regulations of City-parking as well.

SHORT AND SWEET SUMMARY: ALWAYS display your parking pass. If you don’t have one, please don’t park in the parking garage. If you need more parking passes, wait until we’re open and we will gladly get them for you =)
