September<\/strong> is one of my favorite months in Myrtle Beach. The summer crowds have packed up, kids are back in school, and most of the oppressive summer heat has been replaced with more tolerable temperatures, while the ocean water still remains relatively warm. If you have the opportunity, this month between the seasons is a great chance to soak up the best of the Grand Strand without the summer crowd<\/strong>s. There also happens to be an abundance of awesome things happening. Here are my \u201ctop 5\u201d for September:<\/p>\n

September 1-22<\/span><\/h3>\n

\nA wonderful exhibit for kids and adults alike, this is an exhibition from the Toonseum of Pittsburgh celebrating the 100th anniversary of hand drawn and painted animation, with hands-on components for children and families. It will include approximately 100 pieces of original production art including Mickey Mouse, Spongebob, Bugs Bunny, Yogi Bear, Sleeping Beauty and more. The exhibit will examine over 100 years of hand-drawn and painted animation.

Each year, hundreds of people flock to the event to find anything under the sun for a great deal.

September\u2019s feature is Brave, a Pixar animated tale about a strong-willed, expert archeress princess, a magical spell, and the bond between a mother and daughter.

Relish in the abundance of Greek cuisine with a cornucopia of gyros, spanakopita, roasted lamb and mousaka, as well as a variety of pastries and breads at the 22nd annual Greek Festival in Myrtle Beach<\/strong>. The festival also includes vendor booths, live music, Greek dancers, children\u2019s activities and inflatables, and talks and informative lectures about the culture and faith.

\nWhile this one may be a little drive south from Myrtle Beach, it is definitely an event too good to pass up! The 2nd Annual Brew at the Zoo<\/strong> is a craft beer tasting with over 30 regional and national selections in the historic Brookgreen Gardens, one of TripAdvisor\u2019s Top Ten public gardens in the United States<\/strong>. Guests will receive a signature tasting glass, snacks and enjoy the music of Bullfrog, a favorite regional band. Food and wine will be available for purchase. Tickets are available online<\/a>, at Brookgreen, and by calling 843-235-6016.
